I travel very often both for work and pleasure and it crossed my mind that we can all design the world we want upon bringing new ideas and initiatives to the places we visit based on our experience and background. I visited Cambodia for the first time; I stayed at Siem Reap and spent a couple of days visiting the magnificent Angkor Temples. Below are some ideas on how to promote sustainable initiatives in this beautiful place while positively impacting local communities. These ideas were inspired on the course on sustainability I attended in Rio de Janeiro in 2010 (www.gaiaeducation.net )
1) Being a fully touristic place, I believe it worth including subjects related to Responsible Tourism in all schools and universities where tourist guides are educated. These careers last 4 years and its cost is around 100U$S per year plus a lump sum of 2000 U$S paid once at the end of studies, to obtain the certificate to work, this latter is granted by local government. Guides speak several languages showing great skills to communicate. Tourism provides jobs for the huge part of the population in Siem Reap as Angkor Temples receives tourists from all over the world on a daily basis. Providing education on sustainable tourism to local guides may have an enormous impact on both local environment and international visitors.
2) What draw my attention while going around Angkor temples were local communities making their living out of agriculture and fishing. The whole area remained untouched to industrialization and therefore it has a big potential for development of Pernaculture to promote organic farming, agro-forestry and other ways of sustainable land use. A local pernaculture workshop developed by NGOs with the government support could lead to a culture of self-sustainability empowering local habitants to develop new ways of living.
3) With regards to the sanitary systems, taking into consideration the length of the temples area to the closest community and even the length of the bathrooms among themselves, I believe it worth deploying either dry toilets or bio-digesters. Such an approach would bring several benefits since not only it would decrease water consumption but also it would produce natural fertilizer for local communities and even natural gas.
4) I noticed there is a high potential of Recycling due to the huge amount of plastic, tins and papers disposed daily by tourists while visiting the temples. Likely, there need to be some sort of organization (governmental or not) taking the lead on installing a system allowing to classify the material upon disposal (communication campaign upon entering the site, signs indicating where to dispose each material etc) and linking with the recycling companies that may provide the transport from the temples to their sites. Recycling may also create jobs for people doing the collection and separation of the material who may take it to some place where it could be exchanged for money, food or other. Finally, the material collected that could not be recycled due to a lack of recycling facilities in the area, could be used for producing art craft that may be sold to tourists. I have seen some people collecting paper on the street on an informal basis, so I am positive that a recycling program may successfully work in this place.
5) I was surprised by the number of children you come across while visiting the temples, these children are informally working selling whatever you may need during your visit or simply begging for money, they are all aged less than 18 in most of the cases. I believe these children could benefit greatly from education on sustainable practices where they could learn how to develop their own resources being less reliant on money. As a way of example, they could learn how to do art craft using local available resources or re-using disposed material and such objects may be sold to tourists with the seal of “Sustainable and Inclusive Economy Products”. The same approach could be taken within orphanages and by organizations supporting victims of land mines.
6) I also believe that developing an “Exchange Market” where local communities may exchange services and goods without needing to use money can help to make them less dependent from tourism income and more self-confident on their own abilities.
It is with hope that I share these ideas on how to make a better world in the places I visited, as a way of thanking Cambodia for such an incredible travelling experience in my life!

The atrocities committed by poachers will not end until the trade of elephant tusks is prohibited and the buyers are jailed. We need action now to prevent the extinction of elephants and many other wild species.
Poachers and vicious killers are killing off the elephants in Africa. Elephants are/were magnificent, social and gentle animals who were on this planet before humans. They deserve a place on the planet. They deserve to exist, but thanks to poachers in Africa, and their customers the elephants are being made extinct. You people have a responsibility to others on the planet who care about animals, and you need to stop this barbaric, cruel and horrible practice of elephant killing. Now.
“O Futuro que queremos. Se você pudesse construir o futuro, o que você gostaria de fazer?

Já realizo esse trabalho porque acredito que o futuro é agora.
RELEASE “O REI DO LIXO” (peça infantil)

Resilient Communities - An Irish Example
This period of extraordinary change is an opportunity to ensure that the places we live in are vibrant, innovative and full of life. A resilient community is one that takes action to enhance the personal and collective capacity to cope with the unfolding challenges. I live in an eco-neighborhood in a small heritage town called Cloughjordan, Co. Tipperary in Ireland which is offering some progressive solutions for communities in these turbulent times.
The ecovillage, which is being developed by an educational charity Sustainable Projects Ireland, will act as a model for sustainable living into the 21st century and will serve as an education, enterprise, research and service resource for all. The project will demonstrate a socially, economically and ecologically viable community that will promote its work and findings through a variety of media and educational programs developed by the community.
Designed using Permaculture principles the ‘ecovillage’ will, on completion, consist of 130 high performance homes of which there are fifty now completed and occupied. The eco-neighborhood is nestled in its own woodlands and edible landscapes and features Irelands largest renewable energy district heating system. The goal of the ecovillage residents is to create a supportive and economically resilient community, while living in a low impact manner. The community has been firmly established through years of careful planning and cooperation, acting as its own ‘developer’ and making decisions by consensus.
A local community supported agriculture scheme provides organic food for the community and a range of new businesses have been established, including an organic baker.
The ecovillage is fast becoming a destination for learners with a new 32-bed hostel catering for visitors. The project will provide an excellent focal point for ecological and sustainable education. It offers a unique opportunity for people to come and learn by immersing themselves in the community. Hands-on courses, workshops and fieldtrips are already popular. Residential courses are now being delivered and partnerships with third level colleges such as Limerick Universities have been established. The ‘ecovillage’ also fosters local entrepreneurial activities based around the promotion of sustainability. www.thevillage.ie
Ninety percent of the world’s languages - and of the cultures associated with them - will disappear in the near future, crushed by idioms from more powerful and rich countries. Many millions around the globe are forced to learn foreign languages, but only a few are able to use them as well as native speakers. Millions of dollars are wasted each year on interpreters and translations by international organisms such as the UN. However, there is a simple solution for all this: Esperanto. Esperanto is a relatively easy, simple and yet powerful language, which is used as a neutral tool for communication among all countries and cultures. It does not belong to any person, organization or country. It does not impose any culture nor does it contribute to linguistic and cultural genocide. Let us use it in the UN and other international forums.
Last year, I think we saw the flower of the global environmental protection blooming in the fall, called the UNFCCC in Durban, There are many kinds of opinions, one of which is this Rio +20. This conference can have a different opinion from the UNFCCC with the same intent to protect our global environment. I think, the main topic of the Rio +20 is the “Green Economy”. Nowadays, unfortunately renewable energy or some sort of that is only highlighted in discussions, which is the form of high technologies. However, low tech or basic daily activities need to be much greener, too, for an example, might not be good ones, agriculture, fishery and forestry. So, I want the all participants in the Rio +20 to make the all levels of our society greener. Green can suit with a bright flower.
We participate in Eno tree planting Day, which is a global network for sustainable development and peace on the planet coordinated by ENO Program, Finland. The Planting day is a global action that takes place twice a year and through partnerships and encouragement to other schools we have planted 10 000 trees.

20 years from now we should stop polluting.Because the polar bears are dying.Think about if you were one of them and you died because the sun is making their home smaller. So I think we schould stop
kids around the globe learn a few basic things at school, at about the same age, about the same way; teachers around the globe teach their basic stuff basically to their home audience.
imagine teachers learning how to transmit their basic stuff to kids of a diffrent culture. imagine kids getting their mathematics from a teacher from a different place on earth. imagine all teachers practicing 3 years of her career in a different country, with different rules.
imagine school administrations around the globe putting 1 percent of their budget into this global program of moving teachers.
For nearly 20 years, Agrisud has been committed to combating poverty and ensuring food security for impoverished populations in numerous African, Asian, and South American countries. Our response is to support these populations creating very small, sustainable Very Small family farming Enterprises, strongly rooted on the local markets. These VSEs generate income, jobs, and local added value while satisfying market needs: local products for local markets.
“Enterprising against poverty,” summarizes our scheme responsible for creating 32,900 VSEs, i.e. more than 100,000 jobs, in a dozen countries.
This scheme is based, among other things, on in-depth knowledge of the markets,
a professionalization program, and assisting entrepreneurs in their activities. While
the goal pursued by Agrisud is primarily social, the scheme is deliberately economic using the market economy’s levers.
This scheme is also ecological, based on common sense, providing for reconciling
development with decreased pressure on the environment and sustainably managing natural resources. We have been learning this path since Agrisud’s creation, but it was under the impetus of our chair, Robert Lion, that we have become increasingly attentive to our actions’ ecological aspects and the need to limit the negative effects of Man’s interactions with his surroundings. Which is why we place our emphasis on agroecology.
We wish to establish this agroecology as an alternative to classic farming schemes, favouring sustainable family models, attentive to respecting the environment, with high economic performance, promoting human development concerned with food security and public health. Over time, we have become practioners of agroecology. It makes our actions attentive to economic, social, and environmental aspects. This systemic approach provides for preserving the often fragile balances between Man and his environment, while ensuring economic and social continuity for his activities. In so doing, it can effectively contribute to the planet’s food issues with regards to both quantity and quality.
We are convinced, that agroecology has its place between traditional production, insuffi ciently effective, and modern, expensive, and unsustainable practices for developing countries.
We are convinced that agroecology and the right to food are destined to converge and, eventually, create a natural alliance to better guarantee food security on the long-term.
Fair Trade as a trading partnership, based on dialogue, transparency and respect, that seeks greater equity in international trade. It contributes to sustainable development by offering better trading conditions to, and securing the rights of, marginalized producers and workers – especially in the South.
Fair Trade is more than just trading: it proves that greater justice in world trade is possible. It highlights the need for change in the rules and practice of conventional trade and shows how a successful business can also put people first.

The future i want for all individuals live in our world is to have peace.
I do not want to see a died civilian/people because of war.
I want to plant many trees for our environment.
I want to have energy for all because i believe that energy helps develop our economy to build a better future.
I would like to see a future where we only rely on renewable and clean sources of energy such as solar and wind for our houses heating, cooling, electricity and for our cities transportation and power needs. A combined system where it stores power from the sun when it is shining and from wind when it is windy. The system to be designed should be small so we do not end having ugly cities or wind farms, but small powerful systems not bigger than a satellite dish that would be enough for an entire house.
My idea is to take a baby bottle pop (the one that has the 3 places) and to stuff it with gummybears but the top one has an gummy bear through the toP and if you push an button it will play the gummy bear song
